Thomas's Story
Life
Life? Well according to the tally on the lower right side of the screen, I have exactly 3911 characters to fully elabora....wait 3870...no, 3859...whatever. With the twenty-year reunion fast approaching and a rare Saturday with time to waste on classmates, I can give a brief synopsis. My life is idyllic. For some reason, I have been blessed by the Good Lord to have a loving wife, a healthy son, another baby on the way. Okay, let's be honest. Reunions are about showing off, and the only disappointment about the twenty year reunion is that my wonderful, lovely (read: hot) wife will be eight months pregnant and the selfish side that I know everyone tries to hide with contrived piety is disappointed that I won't have her normal hourglass figure to show off at my side. Good thing I no longer have an English Composition teacher critiquing me on my run-on sentences. So, back to life. We actually do have the white picket fence... oops, the boy is awake, gotta go
College
Wandered around for the first few years, got a nominal degree in human services, finished a degree in Geology, did environmental work (toxic waste cleanup, etc.) but wasn't a great fit. After that disillusionment, I substitute taught for a few years looking for a better direction. I discovered Prosthetics and Orthotics(orthoped...Expand for more
ic bracing) and pursued that career. Went to CSUdominguez hills for orthotics and finished up at northwestern for prosthetics. I love the work, put up with the hmo's, and enjoy an rewarding job.
Workplace
Work biography for the past 17 years? Man, what a long road that seems! I actually left from graduation ceremonies to work my first job after high school at Hume Lake Christian Camp. College was mostly waiting tables. First career post-college was Geologist. That field made me a cynic about cleaning the environment so I left (why not? still single, young, and miserable at work? More people should.) I was a sub for a while and looked around. I found the Prosthetics field and started on my graduate work. While in grad school, I taught Cotillion (that's right, ballroom dancing and manners for little kids!) One of the best jobs of my life! Great pay, great hours, plenty of time for school, and a great staff. Not the kind of job you could have for the rest of your life. After school finished, time for residencies and medical boards and such. Worked for a couple of years for a Prosthetics facility and then had the opportunity to open my own place. Now I work even harder! But I wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world. I have been blessed beyond my wildest imagination.
