Thomas's Story
Life
My wife, Lupe and I, have quite a Brady Bunch!! Six children altogether; Three from my first marriage; Tommy (16), Becky (11) and Abby (7). Two from her first marriage; Richard (13) and Vanessa (6). We also have the family angel, Samantha who is 18 months.
We have a live-in Nanny, which allows us to enjoy more time in the evenings and weekends with the kids!! She's like having Grandma living with us instead of a babysitter.
We have two awesome dogs; Munchie, a Pekingese mix and Osito, a Maltese.
My wife and I work together in Atlanta, very near Buckhead, commuting from Dacula. The commute is actually nice because it gives us a little while every morning and afternoon to enjoy some time alone even if it is in the car.
Aside from work and family, my main activity is weight training. I have gone to a personal trainer off and on for several years and I have finally made the decision to go the next step and enter a bobdy building competition later this year. It is a natural athlete event sponsored by my trainer. I train for about an hour and a half a day, five days a week with my trainer and another guy that is a veteran competitor. I'm blessed with a boss who gives me the time during the day to take off for my training.
School
I have to say that I don't look back at my high school days with any regrets. I had a great time, had great friends and so much of that time period is still a part of my life! For one thing, I don't think there has ever b...Expand for more
een a better decade for music. If I find myself browsing iTunes for good music, I know I can never go wrong with a great 80's tune.
College
I didn't really do any college after high scool, I went straight into the Air Force. After a little over two years in the Air Force, I got out and went straight into the working world!!
Workplace
After a couple of years in the Air Force, I spent about four years in restaurant management. I am currently employed at a tortilla manufacturer in Atlanta where I have been for nearly 14 years. I am officially the "Operations Manager", but the reality is that I am basically the owners right hand. After 14 years, I've worked in just about every aspect of the company and my job now is to more or less put out fires all day.
The company I work for makes corn and flour tortillas. We distribute throughout the Southeast and have one major customer overseas in Sweden. Our tortillas are in a good many of the Mexican restaurants in the Atlanta area. If you ever need a good suggestion, I'm the guy to ask, I used to drive the truck, so I've seen all their kitchens!!
Military
I spent a little over two years in the Air Force as an "Open Mess Management Specialist" which is military speak for Assistant Manager of the Officers' Club. Basically, it was the equivalent of working in the management of a restaurant/bar/ballroom/club.
I was able to get into that field due to my experience working for my father in the family restaurant.
