Thomas's Story
Life
I attended FSU in 1960, 1961, & 1962. In 1962 I married the former Madie Dare Ward. We were married for 32 years until she passed away. In 1995 I was lucky enough to meet another wonderfull woman and married her. She is the former Durenda Thompson of Atlanta, Ga. & Daytona Beach. We have 4 children - Darci 38, Dionne 37, Darin 36, & Dara 35. All are successfull in life. We, also, have 8 grandkids - 5 boys and 3 girls.
I worked the first part of my career as a union Boilermaker. I became the Business Manager for the union from 1975 to 1985 and went back to the field to work in '85. In 1986 I became a welding engineer & worked all over the U.S....Expand for more
for Bechtel Power Corporation. My work carried me to 44 states.
I played soft ball and football until I was 52 years old & my knees gave up on me. At 60 I retired and have had 2 total knee replacements and major surgery on my left shoulder.
I enjoy working with steel & wood. I have made many things for our home. Furniture, picture frames, shelves, book cases,sun deck, routed signs,etc.
We live in Salt Springs, Fl. 1 block from Big Lake Kerr in the Ocala National Forest.
Any free time that I have I enjoy reading and shopping with my wife, doing wood working for friends, meeting friends at our VFW or Moose Lodge, and an occassional round of golf.
