Thomas's Story
After high school enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years. Spent time in San Antonio for Basic, went to Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi for 9 weeks, went to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada from March '76 - June '77, then went to England for 2 years, came back to Mountain Home AFB, Idaho for 6 months. Got discharged in January of 1980 and came back home to Medford.
Mary Keener and I had kept in touch while I was in England. We got together after I got back stateside, dated, got engaged, I went to O.S.U. in the fall, she joined me there later. We got married in the spring, spent the next 5 years getting a BSEE while she worked as an RN in the Albany Hospital. After graduating I got a job with Texas Instruments in Dallas...Expand for more
, so we moved there in 1985. Mary and I eventually broke up in 1987.
In 1990, I had a new girl friend, Jennifer, and got laid off as the first wave of Defense Industry cutbacks. Wound up finding a job in Houston writing software to simulate the Space Shuttle avionics systems for the Space Shuttle Simulators at Johnson Space Center. Been doing it for 20 years now. Thats coming to an end this year or early next year, thanks to Obama's silly plans. Don't know where I'll be working a year from now. Big layoffs coming in October.
Jennifer and I eventually got married in '92, have two kids, Katie (now 15) and Zachary (now 12), and three cats.
Well that's the basic facts. Life is good for now. Hope it stays that way.
