School
most of what I remember about school was working. I gave up band and football, after the 8th grade, and started working at the Dairy Treat the first day of freshman year. I really didn't care much about high school, because it bored me mostly. If I could have taken a test to graduate early, I would have done it. I worked at Berry & Clay hardware, Dairy Treat, the Shop A Lot, Mac's Bait and Tackle, delivered pills for Major's pharmacy, built bicycles at Western Auto, changed tires at Jr. Adcock's tire shop, and hauled hay ...Expand for more
a little during the summers. Mrs. Crysup used to laugh at me, because I would never show all the work in Algebra, and would practically sleep thru class, and still got an A. Mr. Harrison made sure that I helped Jerry Dement pass government class, so that he would graduate. My best friend Jaye Modisette left to move to Silsbee in 1981, and she was able to graduate a year early. I didn't even know what I wanted to do with my life, until almost the end of school, then I got into aviation. Doesn't pay well, but it sure beats walking.
