Thomas's Story

After Steveston I Matriculated at Richmond High. Spent summers working at Fort St. John in the Oilpatch. 3 semesters at SFU and decided that I like the outdoors better than studying. Ended up in Rainbow Lake Construction Camp for 2 1/2 years. Quit and went to work for Oilfield Construction Co. in Edmonton for 3 years, where I met my future wife. Married in 1971 transferred back to Fort St. John in 1973. Supervised and Managed a District for an Construction Company. Went consulting on pipelines and production facilities...Expand for more
for 10 years. Worked away from home for about 7 months a year. Moved to Sooke and used it as home base for 10 years while working away from home. Retired in 2006. In 2011 moved to Keremeos. (Sooke population growing too fast for our liking.) Have a daughter with 2 wonderful grandchildren. Our son was born with Spina Bifida and passed away at age 24. I was working out of Fort Nelson while Gary and Carolyn Roth were working there. I was working out of a Hotel for 11 out of 17 months and didn't realize they were there.
