Thomas's Story
Well, were does one start?
First off it is so very nice and comforting to see the people in here still connected. Although the amount of years spent together in school is nothing compared to the lives we have lived since, we still all have a common bond that never really dies. We lose touch but eventually find each other again.
My life... Well after graduation I started to work at Roseburg Forest Products in Riddle. I worked there for 5 years during this time I dated several people and got serious with one from South Umpqua. We moved in together and started a family (ended up getting married April 6, 1991). On March 6, 1990 My first of two daughters was born, (Shantell Elizabeth Timm). Things were not all peaches and cream for quite sometime and I ended up getting fired from the Riddle plant. Stressed about not knowing what to do for a job I worked for a temp agency for a few months then decided to go in the militarty to learn a skill and have a stable job if not for a few years.
On January 7th 1991, I signed up to join the United States Marine Corps. One week later the United States entered the Gulf war. I spent 13 years in the Corps making 5 full deployments for destinations no one really wants to visit for fun. My first four years I was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Southern California as an infanty man. I re-enlisted there for another four years with the bonus of getting to join the airwing and become a metalsmith. I was station in Yuma Arizona for the remainder of my time. It was while in Yuma that my second daughter was born, (Chanell Amelia Timm).
After several ill thoguhtout decision on my part I was Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps due to high tenure. I needed to pick up e-6 (Staff Seargent) by the 13 year mark and that did not happen. So on February 20 2004, I and my family moved back to Oregon. I did absolutely nothing for 4 months except decom...Expand for more
press and relax. I got very antsy and started looking for a job, I must have really PO'ed Rosie cause she didnt even want me back after being in the service and becoming a different person. Dont understand that sometimes, give repeat drug users the benifit of the doubt but not someone who got fired for different reasons. Oh well right?
I found a job in California and started working there and traveling back to Oregon as much as I possible could. I was only about 10 hours from home so it wasnt all that bad of a trip. Things on the home front started to get really sketchy. I worked in California four 8 months when a small plant in San Marcos Texas called me and wanted me to interview for a job doing what I was doing in the Marines my last 9 years. I got the job and moved to Texas May 2005 (about 25 miles south of Austin). I had everything ready for the family to move out and that didnt happen. Long long story on that one. Anyway on February 12 2007 I was legally divorced.
I now still live in Texas and have a Wonderful GF, that I live with. We have 14 acres with 3 horses, have many other animals but nothing interesting to mention. I do not do much on my down time seeing how I still do a bit of manual labor, (I move around a lot during the day). There is always something to do on the farm from mowing the pature, mending the fence, building something, fixing everything and taking car of the animals. I try to keep myself busy. I miss my girls always, horribly. I have witnessed terrible things and performed unspeakable actions from others orders but by far the worst thing I have ever had to deal with is the space, distance, and not getting to hold / see my daughters every single day.
I dont know what the future holds for my, nore do I know where the future has me but I hope everyone is well, happy and in good health.
