Life
Greetings,
Since the time I left Wilson my life has been an unending adventure.
After spending a summer in Europe (mainly Italy) I was infected with the "travel bug". From that time I have traveled to over sixty countries in pursuit of my hobbies of collecting exotic animals, plants and antiquities.
My earlier trips were mainly spent in Latin America, but then as I started spending more time in South East Asia I ended up living in Singapore and using that as a home base.
This was a formative time in my life and was to be the springboard for my next big move, which was to South Africa. South Africa has remained one of my favorite places on Earth and I still spend a great deal of time there. k in California, Saudi is where most of my time is spent.
Also, here with me are my wife and three children. Although we are settled here, they have had to adapt not only to the different life sytle here, but my frequent absences.
Now a great deal of my time is spent in Africa and the Middle East in some of the last wild places left in these areas. In the course of my explorations I've been fortunate enough to discover many species new to science and have been honored by having some of these named after me.
My latest journey was leading the first scientific expedition to the summit of Ras Fartaq (Cape Fartaq) in Eastern Yemen. Not only did we all return intact from this often hostile area, but with an incredible number of new finds.
