Thor's Story
Life
My brother Thor passed away August 19, 1999 due to an unfortunate drowning accident while vacationing at the Campbell River in British Columbia with his family.
He is survived by his wife Lynette, his son Tyler (now 19 years old) and daughter Tory (now 16 years old) as of the time of this posting in December 2004.
He had a very successful career as a Thurston County Police Officer for over 17 years. He worked as a detective and was promoted to Lieutenant just before he passed away. Thor was active in the Police, Sheriff and Firefighters Union and was a member of the committee that awards the medals for the post recognition for officers who had fallen during the line of duty. those who died, were grievously injured or showed an act of valor in the line of duty. He ran for Thurston County Sheriff and narrowly was defeated. After his passing, Governor Gary Locke recogonized the family, in Thors' honor for all of his efforts for the community, law enforcement and firefighters. During his long career in law enforcement Thor had received many awards.
Thor was also very busy following his passion to become a union negotiator and had finished his first year of Law School with honors at the time of his passing.
His memorial service was attended by over 1,000 friends and fellow officers. One song during the memorial service was "I DID IT MY WAY" bringing many to tears. Thor lived by those words.
He will be greatly missed.
