After doing the college thing, I looked around at careers and thought why not continue doing something you are passionate about. So that's what I did. I was a professor at UC Davis for a lifetime and then thought it was time for a change. So I retired one day about 4 years ago, caught a flight the next day, with my wife and one of our "children," and took a new job at Massey University in New Zealand. One day I will look into this retirement gig but having too much fun right now. On a more personal note, I have been happily married to Patricia for 30 years. We celebrated our anniversary on Rarotonga (in the Cook Islands), which used to be a dominion of New Zealand but is now independent, except all Cook Island citizens are also kiwi citizens, which they are especially proud of when the conversation turns to the All Blacks.
