Tim's Story

30 years in a few sentences. i always loved cars. i did heavy structural collision repair, managed a shop for a few years, worked in insurance for a lot of years. went back to the repair end. i restored cars from 1915 to the 1970's. mostly for private collectors, but recently have had a 101 point car at pebble beach concours de'elegance. also a first place at mopars on the strip in las vegas (had no expectations to even place). several rare shelby mustangs, a one of a kind 31' bentley, and other limited production cars. that's career wise. the most important things in my life have been family and friends. my son keith has down's syndrome. he's now 26. my focal point has always been to help him live a normal life like you and me. he does not view himself as handicapped. he has been successful for 8 years to work full time, maintain himself day to day, he has his own friends(and they are not handicapped). he plays the drums, loves concerts, the broncos and avalanche. he has been to 3 afc championship games. i have coached his basketball team for 15 years. he has always been my best friend. keith has a 3 year old cousin that he adores. they are fun to watch together. anne is the love of my life! (15 years together)she is an incredible mom, always fun to be with and the only reason i have any sanity at all. she has two wonderful daughters. becky has her degree in chemistry from mines and m.b. is a junior at c.u. in astro-physics and cancer research. i do a lot of listening! my younger son anthony is 21 and starting his professional career. no grand kids i know of! as for friends: i have met some people through the years that can't be replaced. kirk and paul from high school are still close. others may as well be family. that's life! as for career: always do what you are good at. so i make noise and dirt! so i never have to grow up! and anne thought she was done raising kids, NOT! STORY WIZARD ANSWERS how do i blow off steam? any time we play the raiders! the dead wings! anytime away from the city, especially some special places in the mountains. sunrise, sunset, anyway to create a smile!a great joke even if i'm the butt of it! the wildest thing i did in school? what's the statute of limitations here?was it the cases of beer and asstd bottles in the locker, or the mice we let loose in the hall after 4th period? maybe kissing the cute girl on a dare. the smoking burnout that was sideways in front of westminster high? giving a lift to some girls that just tp'd smokey hill? warning one our own that they would get tp'd and holding out til they went to bed. THEN THE SPRINKLERS TURNED ON. i didn't have a sprinkler system, how would i know? checking out at king soopers with 4 large packs of t.p. and 8 qts of beer? i'm not sure here. i know i left out the good stuff, but i still live in colorado! my hero: keith. need i say more! others include special people. not just special athletes. they fight to live, survive, be seen and accepted in this society. they overcome mountains for the smallest of acceptance. and are kings when it happens! my friend brian says it best: EVERYBODY SHOULD BE SENTENCED TO A WEEK WITH KEITH. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR ...Expand for more
PERCEPTION OF REALITY, SUCCESS AND ACCOMPLISHMENT! my hero makes an impact everywhere he goes, sometimes people don't even realize it until later. the person i'd most like to see again: my father. i just started to get to know him when he passed. since he has been gone, my sons became my focal point. the next phase of this was when anne and her daughters entered my life. i miss you dad but i am thankful that anne is here now. reality t.v. there is no such thing. what a pathetic display of embarrassment! life reaching for it's lowest common denominator. life expectations: everything stopped when keith was born. everything went upside down (not the first time). yes i had to throw away my dreams, but all that meant was creating new dreams. so i didn't own my own shop, be my own boss. big deal. i never cared about being wealthy. just to survive and give keith a good life. there is so much more that is important to me. all of that was placed directly in front of me. what did i learn from my kids? what i thought was important has no meaning at all. there's a much larger world out there than i ever imagined. it all comes down to how you view what is important. it also reaffirmed that my parents were right in being a good person. jerks will be jerks and have no concept of what i am talking about. which teacher would i like to see again? THE MONKEY MAN!!!!! ray "MR. MCGUIRE" i have so much respect for you! work hard, play hard, stand on your own two feet and be accountable for what you do, who you are!!! that man had so much love for every student, he just wanted them to take pride in themselves, and not blend into the wood work! it's sad when i think of all of those that didn't understand him! bring back the original breakfast club! thanks ray!!! to be truly happy: independantly wealthy would be a good start! i have everything i want, great family and friends. i'd love to retire and play with the cars i want to, travel to a few place like germany, japan, belize, england. i want to see more of the u.s. even with that, i would love to spend a lot of time making dreams come true for those that are not terminal. i enjoy putting smiles on peoples faces. the surprise is priceless. my first crush, she's on classmates so i can't comment. she changed my life without knowing it. all i can say is i did the richie cunningham thing because i was so nervous! remember your mom answering the door?! the last time i saw her she was still incredible, and yes i am BIASED! trophies: i donate blood at the denver broncos blodd drive (as well as the rest of the year). keith can't donate s o he volunteers to help clean up. it's a ritual since 1999. keith wears the pins on his apron at work. one lady submitted his name to the board. he as awarded the 2007 volunteer of the year award for bonfils blood center! so handicapped or not, everybody can help! other than that are asstd basketball trophies,an original piece of the only goalpost physically removed from mile high stadium. one do-over: hmmm: college? different career? i don't have any regrets, doesn't help.i have a couple but nothing i can list. i have gained so much even with the downside i can't complain!
