Tim's Story
I live in the SE corner of Az at 5000' in the toe of the Chiricahuas on 40 acres of oak grassland crossed by a seasonal creek. We're 26 miles from the Post Office, 12 miles from the gas pump, and 50 miles from the nearest Safeway. Been here 21 years in January. Am married (31 years so far this time)to Vicki Marvick, who I met in Tucson in 1976. She and I worked together as a mutually potentiating team for 20 some years. She was my business manager and editor. She ran a nonprofit organization we co-founded for a while as well. Recently, Vic started a new career as an elementary school teacher at a small community school in Sunizona. She is the special ed teacher and this year also has 15 third, fourth and fifth graders. Can you imagine going to a school with that kind of student-teacher ratio? I miss working with her, but enjoy seeing her personal aspirations being realized.
We have 3 daughters, one of whom is still at home. Gwen, 16 (going on 23), our late surprise, and my youngest, is very athletic and is on the starting Varsity teams in volleyball, basketball and softball at the local high school (VUHS). Gwen has been offered a full ride to New Mexico State University to play volleyball for Coach Mike Jo...Expand for more
rdan. Our two older daughters are Bronwyn, 27 who is an artist (painter) in Tucson (she is preparing for her first major show this July), and Shannon, 30 now--my oldest, who runs our office in Santa Fe, and is working on a novel. Both Shan and Bronnie are involved with great young men--"keepers".
Parenting has been amazing, but they're big now! (Gwen is literally-6'1" tall!) And Gwen will be off to college this Summer. Where did the time go? The prospect of an empty nest seems hard to fathom. But maybe there will be grandkids--always the optimist.
My company is an environmental planning and development firm based in Santa Fe. I am a principal and owner. Check us out--regenesisgroup. Work is pretty amazing. I get to travel and explore new places all over the NW quadrant of the globe. Work actually embodies just about everything that ever interested me. Psychology, archeology, geology biology, geography, tracking, history, mapping, construction, design, story telling, and being outdoors in amazing places. The intent is to figure out how that place became what and "who" it is. A large part of what I do is imparting understanding as opposed to imparting knowledge. I feel pretty blessed. Life is full.
