Tim's Story

Life Hey all! Life's been good to me so far. After school, I spent 6 years in the Navy working on flight decks while troubleshooting the avionics systems on the fighter aircraft. I'm currently living in South Orange County, CA with my beautiful wife of 13 years, our son, daughter, and two Jack Russel Terriers. One is a boy named Steve and the other is a girl named Pearl. We got them in 2007 after our blind Lhasa Apso named Teddy died. Also in 2007 my wife and I bought a plot of land in the mountains above Cebu City on the island of Cebu, Philippines. We plan on building a vacation home there. I'm working as a Supplier Quality and Component Engineering Director at a Wireless Telecomm Company, and enjoying being a dad. I'm building my 4th First Generation Camaro, this one is a 68 Camaro. I've installed a ZZ502, 5 speed and Moser 12-bolt. Also upgraded the suspension to tubular control arms, coil overs, power disks all around and various other upgrades. It makes 550 horsepower and it'll do the 1/4 mile in low 11's. Next project will be to probably mini tub the rear end and install a triangulated 4-link suspension for better traction and handling. Since one muscle car was not enough, in October 07, I bought an 87 Buick Grand National. I had planned on keeping it mostly stock, but have found that these cars are quite addicting to work on. It now has a new mild performance 3.8 V6 from the Turbo Buick legend, Lou Czarnota. I've also installed a cold air kit; a larger TA61 Precision Turbo; Front Mount Intercooler; high volume Reds XP fuel pump; Methanol injection; billet 3200rpm lock-up stall converter; street/strip 200R4 transmission, RJC power Plate and boost controller; larger 60lb injectors and a new computer chip calibrated for this combo. I have not taken it to the track yet, but I should be able to turn the boost up a little, play with the fuel and timing and get it into the 11's. It's my daily driver. Other classics I've owned and sold were the '68 Camaros I had in High School (quickly totaled one then owned the other for 4 years), a '69 Cama...Expand for more
ro, and a '56 F-100 with a Mustang 5.0 drive train I bought from a Navy buddy. I also used to have a sand rail, but sold that several years ago. I lost all that long wavey blonde hair I used to have, and couldn't stomach the comb over method or wearing a chia pet on my head, so now I just shave my head and wax it with SPF 45. I've missed all but the first high school reunion, but look forward to making the next one if there are ever any invites sent out. Workplace Out of High School, I spent 6 years in the Navy as a Weapons Control Tech (Aviation Fire Control AQ) on Fighter aircraft and finished off with a couple years of exciting flight deck duty. Since the Navy, I have worked at Litton Applied Technology, Komag as Engineering and Failure Analysis Technician. I the went to HMT as a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), moved to Formfactor as a Sr. SQE, and am now at Powerwave as a Director of Supplier Quality and Component Engineering. I really like this job as it invloves a lot of travel. Between my professional and military travel, I've been to China, Philippines, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Costa Rica, Singapore, Sweden, Hungary, Finland, India, Brazil and Estonia. Military I joined the Navy right out of high school. I went through bootcamp in San Diego (Company 015) and then spent a year at NAATC, Millington, TN being trained in Advanced Avionics. I then spent a few months in NAS Lemoore, CA learning the F/A 18 Hornet. I was then stationed at VX-4 NAS Pt. Mugu, CA for three years working on experimental weapons systems being tested and qualified for the fleet aircraft. My last couple years were spent stationed in VFA-192 on the USS Midway CV-41 homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. The USS Midway is now a Museum in San Diego only 1.5 hours from my home, so I'm able to visit it anytime I feel like going back and remenescing about my Sea Duty. I hope to some day be remembered as an imperfect, yet Simple Man (yeah Lynyrd Skynyrd) who had a thing for making classic American muscle cars go fast and loves his family, friends and God. Take care, all!
