Tim's Story

Life My life in a nutshell? Hmmmm... I felt pretty much lost in the shuffle at FHS. I wasn't as involved socially as I wanted to be, and I'm not sure who would remember me, outside of my small circle of friends. I was a 4-year member of the Chorus, and attended All-State Chorus my Junior and Senior years. I was also a member of the National Honor Society. Unfortunately, a lot of my high school memories are a blur. I am thankful for the high-quality education I received at FHS, that enabled me to explore more entertaining pursuits at an academically tough college. I attended Maryville College (see College Bio), where I became heavily involved in the theatre program and "theatre people", although I received my degree in Elementary Education. Hired as a term teacher at Alcoa Elementary, directed first children's musical. Moved to Citrus County, Florida & taught 4th grade for about 6 years. In the mid-80's, developed a Theatre program for Crystal River Middle, based on improvisational skills and TheatreSports. Formed Citrus Actors Theatre and produced many shows, including musicals and dinner theatre. Hired as an Elementary Media Specialist in the 90's, I discovered a new passion. While working as the Media Specialist at RCES, I received certification in Educational Media from UCF in Orlando. I also developed the TV studio, training students to run the program. Created the first school website in Citrus County. This year, I accepted a position as High School Media Specialist, and I love it. I've been married twice (ouch!) and have a 15 year-old son who lives with me (and attends my school). I am a woodworker (when there's time) and build Appalachian dulcimers (35 so far). I combined my interests in theatre and music and formed Entertainment Concepts in 1990, specializing in karaoke, and have facilitated a show continuously in Crystal River for the past 12 years. For the past 6 years I have been a member of the 8th Florida, Company B, Civ...Expand for more

School 1964-1966 Grades 1,2 Galbraith Elementary, (South) Knoxville 1966-1972 Grades 3-8 Cedar Bluff Elementary, (West) Knoxville 1972-1976 Grades 9-12 Farragut High School, Farragut 1976-1980 Maryville College, Maryville,TN B.A.- Elem. Education 1998-2000 University of Central Florida Certification - Ed Media College Enrolled at Maryville College as a Chemistry Major (thanks to Mr. Ward's inspiration), but couldn't see myself holed up in a lab all the time. Joined the Concert Choir and began an extensive involvement with the Playhouse, and a life-long passion for the theatre arts. Charter member of the Playmakers, a repertory theatre company. Declared as an English major Sophomore year. Worked with grade-school youngsters in a production of "The Velveteen Rabbit" and inspired to pursue a career in Education. Continued in the theatre, choir, and part-time work in the college library, and graduated in December, 1980 with a degree in Elementary Education. Student taught at Alcoa Elementary (4th and 5th grade) and was hired in Jan, 1981 to fill a term position. Workplace I came to Citrus County, sight unseen, in 1981 as a 4th grade teacher at Crystal River Primary School, Crystal River, Florida. I worked there for about 6 years. For the following 6 years, I developed a theatre program at Crystal River Middle School, based on Improvisational skills and TheatreSports. In 1995, I was hired as the Media Specialist at Rock Crusher Elementary in Homosassa, FL, specializing in teaching media skills and closed-circuit TV studio. In August of this year (2002), I became one of the Media Specialists at Citrus High School, Inverness, FL. My specialty is in the Media Computer Lab. I started a karaoke business in 1990 and have engineered the show every weekend at Cracker's Bar and Grill in Crystal River since then.
