When not working on her company, she travels to Kenya on mission trips every two years and loves to take windjammer cruises on the alternate year.

Ms. Smith managed retail tenant improvement finishes for Hallmark owned facilities nationwide. Ms Smith has been an instructor on the university level for fourteen years, teaching environmental science, chemistry, biology, and environmental health and safety management. Ms. Smith has been a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) since 1995. Ms. Smith was the president of the Heartland Chapter of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers 2003-2004 and a member of the board of directors from 2001-2003. She has served as an officer in the Midwest chapter of the Institute of Food Technologist and the Kansas City Chapter of the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Association.
