Timothy's Story
Life
I'm married and have been for 14 years. My wife's name is Andrea and we have three kids, Sophia (22), De'Andre (14) and Jennifer (12). We have no pets.
I meet my wife in California through a friend and his girlfriend. We have been together for 19 years. I lived in California for 18 years.
We currently reside in Cedar Rapids Iowa.
School
School was good. I got a high school education and should have pursued to further my education by going to college, but I didn't. My college was life's challenges.
No biggest crush as I was not the popular kid in the school. None of my teachers inspired me, my mother inspired me and the will to get out and see the world and experience what the world could provide and offer a young man from Mississippi.
If I could do it all over again, I would and there would be changes as I would have tried not to be so shy as I was a newcomer to the town and didn't know anyone.
The two friends that welcomed me with open arms and still to this day, we keep in contact with each other is Robert Ellis and Ronald Sanderford.
Workplace
I started working for a company called TransWestern Publishing. We produced yellow pages for telephone directories all across the United States. We competed against the larger utility companies to put out the best telephone directory. I started out working in the Quality Control department where we checked all of our customers ads for accuracy and completeness. I quickly moved from Quality Checker to Supervisor for the department. as just recently purchased by Yellow Book USA where my role and responsibilities have changed. I still manage several employess who report to me and I enjoy my role as I can be a mentor to my employees. To help them achieve more, by becoming leaders within the company to help the company to continue to prosper.
Military
I joined the military right after high school. I went to boot camp in Great Lakes,IL. After boot camp, I went to "A" school to be an Operations Specialist in Dam Neck, VA. After completing "A" school, I was sent to the west coast aboard the USS Belleau Wood. I spent four years aboard the USS Belleau Wood splitting time aboard the USS Tarawa during Operations Desert Storm. Upon completion of my tour of duty aboard the USS Belleau Wood, I re-enlisted in the military and was stationed aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. I spent two and half years aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, during that time we participated in Operations Restore Hope in the Gulf region. During my tour of duty aboard those fine naval vessels, I completed four western deployments seeing countries such as Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Phillipines, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Somalia and the United Arab Emirates.
After I transferred off the USS Kitty Hawk, I was stationed at Commander Patrol Wings US Pacific Fleet at Naval Air Station Barbers Pt. Hawaii. I spent my last three and half years of my military career in Hawaii and then I got out. It was some of the best years of my life as I was able to see the world coming from a small town in Mississippi.
