Timothy's Story
Hi. So, what have I been up to all these years. Leaving high school, I did a semester at VVJC; to me it felt more of an extension of high school, and I wanted more. Thinking back, I wish I had stayed and finished my education. At 19, I enlisted in the Air Force, I chose to follow one of our family traditions, which is aviation. Finished basic, then following 16 weeks of tech school, I ended up at a training base in Mississippi; T-37s, T-38s. I met my wife there, she was also a mechanic, we married in 1979; enduring all the ups and down, we’ve been married since then. Three kids together, two boys and a princess. Three grandkids, our youngest is three… and she is adorable. The Air Force was quite an adventure; long work hours, travel… we moved four times, then there was the Gulf War. As a Master Sergeant, I volunteered for deploy...Expand for more
ment to Desert Storm; was there for ten months. My wife said it changed me, she wanted out of the service, so when retirement came up, I left. I worked seven years for an airline, which I really enjoyed, got a pilot’s license, then the remaining years of my work life were at a repair station here in Missouri. My last eight years were interesting, I was upgrading avionics for both governmental and contract spy planes; a real eye opener. Today, I’m happily retired; due to a vision problem I’m no longer allowed to fly, so I’ve made it up with other hobbies, including flight simulation. And if you can imagine it, I’ve taken up writing. Mr. Jacobs would be proud of me, I listened to at least some of what he taught. I’ve yammered on enough… have a wonderful day.
