Tim's Story
Being pretty much unknown throughout high school, I preferred to keep a low profile and hung out with a small group of slightly-shady characters whom I considered as friends. My most memorable traits are probably my rail-thin physique and somewhat undistinguished appearance. That hasn't changed much over the decades, although what was once not-quite-a-six-pack has blossomed into a partial-pony-keg.
My wife and I met while I was in Saudi Arabia during the '90's. She was working as an RN and supervisor at a hospital in Al-Khobar, KSA. I became her #1 patient and before long we were dating in secret, as it is seriously against Saudi law to be caught with the opposite sex in public. We got married in the Philippines on 9/11/1996 and she became a US citizen right in the middle of 9/11/2001. As a result, 9/11 has become a memorable date for us in many ways.
Due to my line of work, we have traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East with our little Maltese Harley and are now exploring the four corners of the US. Although our permanent home is in Arizona, we are currently residing near Boston where I am pretending to be a control systems expert for seve...Expand for more
ral nuclear projects being developed in China.
Our interests these days include riding Harleys, kayaking and exploring new places we encounter during our travels. Other than avoiding the occasional terrorist or government official (hard to tell the difference sometimes), we have a tremendous amount of fun becoming immersed in the various cultures we encounter and have learned to order dinner in 5 different languages. We consider ourselves lucky for the nomadic life we live.
I have never been to any of our class reunions and this time I had planned on going to the 40th, but alas, old age and dementia (or maybe all the rock concerts and experimenting with pharmaceuticals in the 70's) caused me to forget to make those plans and now another one has bit the dust! Perhaps reunion #50? Well, that's not likely to happen either. If all goes well, by that time I'll be sitting under a palm tree on a sandy beach somewhere in the South Pacific with a cold beer in hand and surrounded by a bevy of beautiful young ladies (made up entirely of my granddaughter and her friends) who will be listening intently to my boring stories of the glory days while I bribe them with coconut candy!
