retired as a supervisory agent from the US Secret Service in 2000 and re-entered the federal workforce in 2002, supervising federal air marshals (TSA/Homeland Security) retiring again in Nov 2007; I last worked as a managing law librarian for a major law firm in downtown Los Angeles and cried with joy every morning (on my 43 mile one-way trip) upon viewing the spectacular skyline of the city where we were born and raised. We have also been blessed with our first three grandchildren: Kennedy Fukunaga, born on July 2, 2003; Kana Jane Hoydich, born on May 20, 2004; and grandson, Kenzo Montana Hoydich, born on September 30, 2005. Oh yes. I suffered a brain aneurysm in 1993 and am, in the opinion of some, about 98% recovered!
Workplace
As an old fashioned 60's woman in the dawn of the feminist movement, the most important objective in life for me was to be a wife and mother. I attended undergraduate school for years (11yrs- full time!) only wanting to learn more to give to my family life, with no career goal in mind. Having worked at the Los Angeles Public Library in my first year of college, librarians impressed me as a group which seemed to "know everything." If ever I wanted a career, it would be as a librarian. By the time I got to that end finishing graduate school at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., I was 35 years of age. I remember sitting at my desk on the first day as a librarian, with the stereotypical pencil over ear, thinking..."I made it! I really made it." And in the end, the one thing I learned as a librarian is that I KNOW NOTHING! but can FIND ANYTHING.".
