Todd's Story

I look back on my K-12 school years growing up in Oak Park as great times. I realize now that it is more uncommon to have gone to a small High School like ours. I liked everything about it with the exception of how fast news would spread when you messed up, and I did that several times. Good news spread almost as quickly and it was just part of going to a small school. I can't think of one person from my graduating class of 85 that I hated or disliked. I can think of several dudes from 84 & 83 I did not like. Overall it was just a great place to grow up and go to school in my opinion. I thought everyone was someone since our school was so small. I have since learned at a reunion that not everyone felt that way and was bummed to hear that. I have also heard people say they do not feel the need to go to reunions because of facebook. I guess that makes sense, but I have never had a facebook page so I am one of those people who loves to hear about how people from High school are doing. I am planning on going to the next reunion in 2023. I loved growing up in Oak Park as a kid but for me by 2000 it had turned into a crowded pretentious mess compared to the good old days ...Expand for more
going to Brookside Elementary. In 2005 I sold my house and pool construction company, bought a motorhome, and traveled the country looking for some property and a cool small town experience like Oak Park was in 1971 when my Parents settled there. I had my wife Robin and my 2 yr. old daughter, and we set out to find somewhere new to raise our kid and have a new experience. After 6 months of traveling the country we found our new small town in the Hill Country of Texas outside of San Antonio. Though we are not a fan of some of the Texas policies, we have loved it here. Moving here initially allowed me to further pursue my passion for racing motocross and wife's passion for riding horses. I went into the Real Estate business here and my wife continued to work as a High School teacher. Like Oak Park, 17 years later my small town is not so small anymore. When my daughter graduates college in 3 years it will likely be time to set out on our next adventure to find another small town. It is safe to say Oak Park left a good impression on me. I hope to see some old classmates at the next reunion. BTW if you ever want to move to TX I can consult with you on that AndersTXatgmail
