Todd's Story
I'm a retired educator. Now days I do a little graphic art work for this small bohemian beach community. Living in Cannon Beach is grand and affords me the lifestyle and pace I feel I've earned. I love to play music, read, write and ride!
I was a public school teacher for 15 years. I took a leave of absence to catch my breath and explore teaching at the university level. That idea was interrupted when my significant other became ill. I cared for her for the next 10 years. She passed away in 2004. She battled diabetes bravely for many years with a courage and conviction that reflected her love of life. Now she's the stuff of stars. God bless her.
Hmmm, let's see... I've played men's USVBA volleyball for years, and while I was teaching in Sequim, Washington I coached varsity volleyball. I'm proud to say we were an AAA perennial powerhouse at the state championships. Sadly, we never took home the tallest piece of hardware, but going to the dance each year was truly a great reward for my kids.
Also, I love to ski (water/snow), though finding the time is a challenge. When I retired from education and moved to...Expand for more
the Oregon coast from the abundantly riparian Seattle, I left a boating hobby behind. I'd be lying if I didn't confess to missing those wonderful, month long, warm and sunny skiing sojourns to Lake Powell, Utah. Three months off from teaching every year is certainly spoiling.
Another passion of mine is riding my 1982 FLH Harley Davidson. She's been the other woman in my life for a long time. If you like to ride, I invite you to a casual scenic picnic along our breathtaking coastline. I cut my teeth with motorcycles when I was a 20 years old. In 1972 a friend and I toured England, Scotland and the European continent for half a year on vintage Triumph motorcycles. It was your generic long hair, easy rider, get the hell out of Dodge kind of thingÂ
with a deeply disguised interest in history, art and architecture. It was quite an education and adventure! I am rewarded with a terminal case of wanderlust to this day.
No biological children. Always wished I had. Yet I've had so many kids in my life as a educator that I feel like they are all a bit a part of me. For that gift and experience, I am truly thankful.
