Todd's Story

Life Been living in Alaska since I left midway through the 1992 school year. Actually graduated high school in Fairbanks AK. I have lived all over Alaska. I work as an aircraft mechanic. No serious relationships. Getting ready to move to California. More to come later...... Well on december the 5th of 2006 i packed all my stuff and headed for warmer climes, I got tired of yhe cold weather in alaska, so I tradded it for the tripple digit warm weather in the Mojave desert of California. (I really did not learn anything in school) It took about 5 days of driving to make the roughly 3500 mile trip, me my stuff and my two dogs, stayed with a friend for about a 2 weeks then found a little trailer in the middle of a large valley used to grow sod grass and pesticide free produse. Quit a really good job in Alaska working on a fleet of DC-6's and C-46's, I also did contract work for Alaska airlines, Delta airlines, Northwest, and Lufthansa, doing ground handling and line maintenance. It was really good pay but after working outside in tempratures ranging from 99 deg. above zero to -75deg. below zero for around 8 years, well I was just really tired of the cold. (so thus explains the big Move) Now I live in the Tehachapi area of california and I commute to the Mojave airport where I work for a small Aircraft R&D shop called Scaled Composites, I chose there because they are developing a prototype for space tourism, I have worked there since January of this year , I have worked in many shops but currently I am working for the Rocket Propulsion engineers as their bitch, actually the term they use is PAP thats Pad A&P, pad becuse we spend alot of time at the rocket test site which i...Expand for more
s called the pad or site, A&P becuse that is the license that I have for working on aircraft, the inside joke is that if things go horribly wrong I will become a PAP SMEAR.....(if things go wrong it wont be because of the work that I do) THere is soo much to put down alot has happened in my life since I moved to alaska in 1992, I was able to graduate from high school (and for those of you that new me then you know that that was no small fete) infact my gpa for the last semester was a b average, but becuse of the fact that during the school year in Fairbanks it is mostly dark, I slept alot, (in class and they let me) so bethat as it may by the time finals rolled around I ended up with a c average. Of course I knew nobody so I did not go to graduation, and I did not even correct them when they spelled my name wrong on my diploma (hell I don't even know where it is at anymore) Life is in the normal humdrum of work sleep work, no kids, no wife, the same old stuff, so I work and on the weekends I cant wait to get back to work. I do miss alaska but life up there was just too fridged, now I swelter in the heat and get used to sweating the day away. I am looking forward to next yaer when I will be more established, and can take time to camp and stuff like that. I want to take a trip to the Reno Air Races, and maybe a few diffrent airshows. Eventually once I get more expirence on newer technologies in the aerospace world I will look to move agian, porbably back to the Pacific Northwest. but the shop that I work for has just too many exciting programs coming up in the next few years so it may be a while till I do move from here. I am sure that there will be more to come later.
