Todd's Story

Life In October of 1995, I left for Air Force Basic Military Training, with a guaranteed job in the Security Police career field. I wanted to see the world! Imagine my chagrin when they sent me to the wind-swept missile field plains of Montana. It turned out to be the best thing that could have happened, as that's where I met my wife-to-be, Holly. We were married in August of 1997. A year later, we were sent to Germany for a 3 year tour. In February of 2000, we were blessed with a baby girl and named her Rebekah. In May of 2001, we moved to central New Jersey, where I'd be a recruiter for the next four years. In January 2003 we were blessed with our second daughter, Emily, and on Valentine's Day 2004 we had our third, Cadence. In 2005 I attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center near Brunswick, GA and was trained to be a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. By far the most interested job I ever had, OSI allowed me to see parts of the Air Force I had never even knew existed. As much as I loved my job in OSI, when the opportunity came for me to get my commission and train to be an Air Force pilot, I had to jump at it. So now, here I sit at Laughlin Air Force Base, TX, waiting for my pilot training date to arrive. That's about it, I'd love to hear what's new with other alumni. College I'm currently attending the University of Maryland University College and will be receiving ...Expand for more
my BS in Computer and Information Science in February 2005. Previously, I have earned AAS degrees in Criminal Justice and Human Resource Management. Although all three fields interest me, I will most likely end up using a combination of my Criminal Justice and CMIS experience in my long-term work goals. Military I've been in the Air Force since October 1995, 5 months after graduation. I spent my first 5 1/2 years as an Air Force cop, and the last 3 years recruiting in New Jersey. I have one year left and will then move on to work for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI). OSI has two primary missions: 1) Criminal investigations. Any homicides, rapes, drug investigations, contractor fraud, etc that occurs on an Air Force base is the responsibility of OSI. 2) Counter-intelligence. OSI deploys to locations throughout the world to gather information on issues impacting the safety and security of our forces stationed around the world. Within the OSI, I will have a couple of options when it comes to specialization. Once I've completed my one year probationary period, I can attend the Defense Language Institute in Monterey to become fluent in a foreign language, or I may choose to focus in on computer forensics. My time in the Air Force has been very rewarding -- I encourage anyone looking to add a little excitement and direction to their life to consider the Air Force -- or any branch of the military -- as an option!
