Tom's Story

Life Shortly after graduation, 1970, I met my first wife (Erma Moore) from Grants Pass. Her father & mine worked for the same logging company (Don Beard). Erma & I got married late in 1970 and I was promptly drafted, but joined the Navy in March of 1971. Before seperating and eventually divorcing, we had 2 boys. After the Navy transferred me to Norfolk, Virginia I soon met my second wife (Desiree') who was born and raised in Boston, Lincolnshire, England and had travelled the world. Desiree' had 2 sons (Kevin and Dale) and we soon had one son (Russell) together. I left the Navy after 8 1/2 years in July of 1979 and went straight to work for Newport News Shipbuilding. Desiree' and I had almost 31 years together before Ovarian Cancer overwhelmed her and GOD took her home with him on September 8th, 2004. The shipyard has gone through several owners, including ourselves, but is presently owned by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGSB). I obtained a very good Nuclear Engineering education while in the Navy and have used that throughout my different endeavours in the Shipyard. It was extremely challanging work that brought different issues everyday, which made the time fly and time is flying, way too fast. My 3rd wife, Melody has a son (Chris) and daughter (Courtney) who are both grown and out of the house. Courtney has added to our wealth of Grandchildren with Cheyenne who is 7 and Wyatt who is 4 years old. So between all of us, we have 6 boys, 1 girl, 20 Grandchildren and 10 ...Expand for more
Great-Grandchildren. In our spare time from our full time jobs, we continue to teach Natural Health & Nutrition, with focus on Heart Health & Weight Management. I have been studying Health & Nutrition for almost 41 years and am now working to complete my Nutraceutical Consultant Certification so that I can commence working with Doctors to provide them the tools and resources necessary to turn the downward spiral of aging and age-related diseases into an upward spiral of optimal health. Well, on September 10th of 2010, I retired from NGSB with 31+ years, because I was going to start working overseas. One of my best friends became the Director of Operations at Abu Dhabi Ship Building and wanted my assistance, so in October 2010 I went to Abu Dhabi and was responsible for building the last three ships of a 70 meter Cruiser Class. I actually lived in Dubai and drove to Abu Dhabi everyday. The job was short lived (7months), as politics got in the way, so I took an Executive position with BAE Systems, Australia to assist in the building of the two largest warships ever built for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). They were Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) ships, which are similar to the US Navy's Amphibious Assault Ships. That was a massive job and very rewarding, both professionally and personally. I hope that becoming a member of "Classmates" will help all of us to find those friends we lost track of over the years. May GOD bless and keep you safe in your journey, called "LIFE". Tom
