Tom's Story
After graduating from Wauwatosa West in 1983, I moved to the Tampa Bay area in Florida. I became a volunteer firefighter at the Safety Harbor Fire Department. While I worked as a cook at a Beach restaurant, I attended the Fire Academy and EMT school. I was hired full time as a paid firefighter in 1987.
I got married and had a wonderful son and daughter. They are grown up now and I have since divorced....Expand for more
Through the years, I worked my way up the ranks and various assignments in the fire department and am currently a District Chief. Because of budget cutbacks, I am also the departments Training Chief.
I hope to continue working at the SHFD for at least another 10 years and then retire and perhaps go into teaching.
I love photography and video games and travel when I can afford it - which isn't often!
