Tom's Story
I currently reside with his wife, Marcia K. (Dreske) Lackland, in Damascus, Maryland. After graduating from H. B. Plant High School, I later graduated from the University of South Florida in 1965. I completed U. S. Navy Officer Candidate School, Newport, RI, in 1966 and served 3 years of active duty in the Navy Reserve onboard the USS LONG BEACH, CGN-9 during the Vietnam Nam hostilities. While in the Navy, I met a young girl named Marcia Dreske in April 1969. Following the completion of my military service in 1969, I then joined Shell Oil Company in December 1969. husband Rich have two boys (Dylan and Tyler) while Lindsay and Adam have a girl (Ava) and a boy (Colin). We are blessed to have these four wonderful grandchildren and equally blessed to have both families living within 15-20 minutes of our home! After serving in several Marketing assignments with Shell in CA, AZ, and the Washington, DC areas, I retired in 2009 after completing 40 years of service. Marcia retired as a high school ESOL teacher and department head in June 2012. Although my distance from Tampa (not my health) has precluded my attendance at any alumni functions to date, I still try to keep up to date on class news.
