Tom's Story
Life
During & after high school I worked in the automotive trade and restaurants for a few years, then went to fish in Alaska for a couple of years. After fishing I decided to go to broadcasting school, and became a DJ at Spinnakers in Ballard, and stayed there for about 6 years, during which time I was married (no kids), and bought my 1st and 2nd homes. Spinnakers eventually closed, I got divorced, and decided to get into radio, and nightclub consulting & equipment sales. I did almost 6 years at KAFE 104.3 in Bellingham, while working with clubs such as Charlies in Bellevue, Papgayos in Bellevue, and consulted for Black Angus chain, as well as many, many smaller clubs in the Seattle area. Eventually, I decided to take a "day job" selling Restaurant Equipment, becoming the Sales Manager at The Seattle Restaurant Store, helping move the store from Eastlake Ave. to Aurora Ave in Shoreline. About the same time I started there, I installed a sound/lighting system at th...Expand for more
e Drift On Inn. I decided to DJ there for a little while (7+ yrs!). During that time I got to travel all over the US and Mexico for business and pleasure, and spent WAY too many vacations in Vega$, and bought a house in Edmonds. After my mom passed away, I realized that life is too short to not fulfill your dreams, so my brother and I opened One-Eyed Jack's Roadhouse on Highway 99 in Lynnwood. We operated it for almost 13 years, until my brother passed away unexpectedly. I sold the bar in August 2015, and dallied in a few projects before taking a job with the Tulalip Gaming Organization early in 2016. I opened and manage a new bar for them at Tulalip Bingo & Slots as of November of 2018. The new position affords me plenty of time for travel, a great benefit package, and stability. Since starting this job I've been able to go to Scotland, Mexico, Vegas, and a couple of dozen trips to Canada. This summer I'm looking to see Ireland, then back to Mexico in fall/winter.
