Tom's Story
I attended Snohomish Jr & HS from 1959-62, but was unable to graduate with the class since the family moved to Mountlake Terrace, where I did graduate.. Following HS, I enlisted in the US Army and served until 1966 and included a tour of Vietnam. After being separated, I attended Everett Jr. College for a year and then transferred to the University of Washington. I finally graduated with a BSEE degree in 1974 after dropping out for a period and working. Subsequently I worked for several consulting engineering firms in the Seattle area as Professional Electrical Engineer, primarily designing electrical and control systems for municipal water works and hydroelectric power facilities. I worked for approximately one year in the Philippines on major Hydro facility. I finally semi-retired ten years, then completely two years ago.

ed in a long term relationship and living with with a wonderful woman for 30 years, who unfortunately will not be able to attend, as she had a hemorrhagic stroke five years ago and has other health issues.
I was active in the Seattle Mountaineers for many years, and now am active with both the Birds Connect Seattle (formerly Seattle Audubon), Eastside Audubon, and Washington Ornithological Society. I attempt to g birding whenever possible. In connection with my birding activities I have travelled to Belize, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Vietnam and lastly to Israel in 2022. I have been to several birding festivals in the US, including the Woodpecker Festival in Sisters, OR in June.
I've generally been able to have a fairly good life, thanks mainly to being able to obtain that BSEE degree, thanks partially to my teachers at Snohomish HS, and the Vietnam Era GI Bill.
