Tom's Story
My Spouse
Stephanie - we've been married since 1968. She's the director of the pre-school where she taught for over 30 years. Update 7/16: Stephanie is now retired, after 10 years as Director.
My Pets
Have had both cats and dogs, but all have passed. Maybe new one(s) next year. Update 7/16: added a chocolate-shaded cream mini-Dachshund to the family. Now 10 weeks old! Update 8/16: Sadly, we lost our puppy to an un-diagnosed ailment. Update 9/21: acquired a male midi-Dachshund (Bisbee), now 3 1/2 years old.
My Kids
Chris (1970) professional jazz musician (keyboards and percussion). He played on cruise ships all over the world for six years after college. Lives and works in the Orlando area. Member of the North Carolina Army National Guard band. Teaches music at USF and is pursuing an advanced degree in music at USF. Update 7/16: Chris left the National Guard, is married to Julia, earned a MA in jazz performance and composition, lives in Davenport, FL, and continues to teach at USF and work in the central FL area. elocated to Madison, WI, a few years ago. Both are teaching at U of Wisc, where Chris is en-route to a PhD and continues playing jazz gigs in the Madison and Milwaukee vicinity.
Eric (1972) also a musician (guitar and vocals). Wrote original music for his band, Tiara, and still does for himself. Has produced personal CDs (as Eric Metronome and Eric Westwood) and appeared on CD collaborations with other writer/singers. Tiara has also issued a number of CDs. Tiara and another band, Silver Scooter (from Austin, TX) were big in the Far East, and were on a promotion tour to Japan during 9/11. Update 7/16: Eric is a photo retoucher at Gardens Alive, a nursery in central OH, and lives in Tipp City, OH.
My Job
Got involved with computers in the USAF ('64-'68) and worked in IT for nearly 44 years, most recently as a support consultant to the Defense Commissary Agency. Traveled extensively on business to distribution industry clients and military commissaries throughout the continental US; and to commissaries in Hawaii, Guam, Okinawa, Panama, S. Korea and Germany.
Retired since Jan, 2008, and loving it!
