Tommy's Story

School My biggest school crushes would have to be LeighAnn Magee and Connie Stevens. Heck, I still think about them every now and then. There wasn't a teacher alive who could ever inspire me then, but they probably could nowadays. I loved the social aspect of school then and not much else, but after high school, I learned to appreciate the learning aspect as well. I did very well in the Navy schools, college and police academy. I even graduated 3rd from the top of my class in Navy Aviation Electrician school and the police academy. If I had it to do all over again, I probably wouldn't change a whole lot, but instead of smoking pot and failing classes, I would have been chasing LeighAnn and Connie. College I went through the police academy at TCJC and also took several college courses there. I quit going when I realized that I was going to have to take a speech class in the associate degree plan that I had chosen. I guess it's just as well; I'm still doing what I learned in the Navy anyway, which is troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining aircraft electrical systems. I've also recently gone to school to learn real estate investing and am just getting started with my own business in that field. So far, so good. Workplace Well, as I've said, I still work as an Aviation Electrician for Bell Helicopter. I'm currently assigned to the Alliance Airport facility next to Texas Motor Speedway north of Ft. Worth and my new real estate inves...Expand for more
ting company is Creede Investments LLC. Hopefully, I'll be able to eventually work my business full time, but for now I,m happy to be doing both jobs. I do get to fly in the helicopters that I maintain and sometimes they even let me take over the controls and do the flying once we're in the air. Military Well, I went to boot camp in August of 1985 (the year I finally graduated high school) and then went to my Aviation Electrical school in Millington, Tennessee. When I graduated from school, I was stationed at Whidbey Island, Washington where I worked on A-6 Intruder and KA-6D aircraft for Attack Squadron VA-196 . We were attatched to the aircraft carrier, USS Constellation out of San Diego, California and you can be sure that I saw plenty of water. I made 2 Western Pacific cruises and visited Australia, Thailand, Hawaii, Diego Garcia, Hong Kong, Pakistan and the Phillipine Islands. One of the coolest things ever was when we had what they call a Tiger Cruise. On a Tiger Cruise, the ship pulls into a U.S. port and offloads the sailors that aren't participating. That makes room for family members of the participating sailors. We pulled into Washington at the end of a cruise and my dad flew up and boarded the ship and spent 3 nights on the ship with me as we cruised the rest of the way down to San Diego. He got to see what ship life was like and I got to show him around and just enjoy his company. It was one of the greatest times of my life.
