Tommy's Story

Life After having taught voice at the University of Memphis, Crichton College and most recently, Rhodes College I am now Assistant Professor of Music at Christian Brothers University in Memphis. I also teach private students in my studio at CBU. I was the Conductor/Musical Director of the Germantown Chorus,a community chorus sponsored in part by the Germantown Arts Alliance, the Memphis Arts Council and the Tennessee Commission for the Arts for 5 years until my appointment at CBU.I am vice-president of the Memphis Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing(NATS)and have had students who have won local, regional and national singing competitions. My singing career has taken me all over the country where I have performed in various Operas, Operettas, Oratorios and have done a great deal of Sacred Concert work.I have performed locally with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the Germantown Symphony Orchestra, Opera Memphis and the Como Mississippi Opera Guild and was a soloist with the Memphis Vocal Arts Ensemble on their CD: Fairest Isle, The Music of England. After completing a degree in Landscape Architecture (summa cum laude) he is now married, living in Little Rock Arkansas and is Jr. Vice-President of Rocket Properties, a land-development firm there. He is married to the former Carrie Johnson of Little Rock who, after completing a degree in Apparel Studies at U of A and being captain of the pom squad, is the head designer for men's pants and slacks for Dillards. My youngest son is Grant who just turned 18 and will be a senior at Briarcrest this year. He is a very gifted tennis player and has been in the Best of the Preps for tennis and is the #1 seed on the men's team for Briarcrest.They are both 6 feet tall AND they're NOT adopted! (yep, I never grew any more and am still 5'5" short!!) My life is very full and I live on the fast track all the time! I have lived in the Yorkshire Gardens Subdivision in East Memphis for 19 years.I invite all of you, my High School friends and classmates to any of our musical programs at CBU.
