Toni's Story
Life
After high school, I left the Skagit Valley and moved to Seattle with my older sister Heidi. We lived with my estranged mother and her husband for a little while until we got on our feet. We both got jobs at Auto Warehousing in Seattle driving Chevy Luv Trucks off the docks.
We then moved to Kent, Wa. My sister and I lived there for a while and Diane Lorenzen moved in with us for a while. We all joined the carnival in 1978 and went on the road.
I traveled with the carnival for a couple of years and then ended up in Portland for a few years. After Portland I ended up in Tacoma, Washington for several years. That is where I met my husband Jerry Glessner. We met on March 20, 1981 on the corner of 56th and McKinley at Country Boys IGA. It was almost 2:00am when he came into the store with a friend who was having a party. I was at the store because I had previously worked there and had insomnia so I was visiting with a friend who was a cashier there at the time. When my husband Jerry and his friend Bob came through the line, Jerry's friend Bob invited me to his party. After I went to the party with them, Bob asked Jerry to get me out of the party because his girlfriend was jealous of me. Well, I won't...Expand for more
go into any details, but that was the night that my husband stole my heart. He was 21 and I was 22--we have known each other for 28 years! He let me drive his 1966 Chevelle that night, I thought that was the coolest thing that ever happened to me back then. Anyway, we have been together ever since. Now---
I am living in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with my husband of 22+ years, Jerry. We have 2 children; Rachel 23 and Tyler 19. We live in a community about 8 miles south of Coeur d'Alene called Cougar Gulch.
My husband and I enjoy riding our Harley's when we have a free moment.
Our children have kept us on our toes, Rachel was as much of a handful as I was as a teen, and Tyler is mellow like his dad.
Rachel married John Treantenou August 12, 2008. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding and we couldn't have asked for a better son-in-law.
Tyler graduated from Lake City High School in Coeur d'Alene on June 6, 2009. He was on the wrestling team for 3 years. This year he wrestled at 125 lbs. and he lettered so he now has a varsity jacket.
We spend most of our time at home -- finally have grown up I guess (hope it's not old age). We have been thinking about traveling more -- it will be fun to see where we end up!
