Tony's Story
Life
It is the single life for me! Actually my work with students and in the church has for many years put me on the sidelines of developing a serious relationship with a special lady -- I've got lots of stories to tell about being chased lol -- by women who think I'd make a great dad for their kids -- I'm a kid and pet magnet -- I was even stalked by a couple! Scary stuff! Besides my work with teenagers, I find great pleasure in routing for our local professional sports teams, enjoy working out, playing golf and tennis, sailing, and snowskiing - all of which I've puttered around with since HS --I enjoy working on my rambler which has a great view of Commencement Bay in the South Sound area, traveling nationally and internationally. I still love jazz - play guitar and some piano, sing. I'm still a book worm -- love reading history (hence completion this past year of my BA finally at Seattle Pacific University), and I love movies, the theater and hanging out with friends and family. My dog - a beagle named Daisy is pretty cool to hang out with as well as my Gold Fish etc. Am active in my church and busy busy busy with life -- also sell mortgages on the side, and do some substitue teaching in my spare time!
School
Great times in elementary school and then we moved to Lake Stevens -- and life got tough ...Expand for more
-- be a super shy kid with not a lot of social skills -- I had a horrible Jr High experience except for some great teachers that really encouraged me and helped me through -- and High School -- which got a little better with my involvemenbt with Jazz choir, Drama, and with being on the school newspaper. I did have a pretty good time, although I generally hated school and was glad it was OVER! Kids can be so cruel -- go figure -- anyway my life got way better after high school...
College
It took me about 20 years to finish college and finally get my BA -- now onward to do my Masters -- maybe! After a couple of jabs at community college I attended seminary in southern California for three years. That was an experience and I was really homesick. Lived in the dorms at the school for a year and the food and the not so friendly dorm enviornment caused me to move off campus for the remainder of my time there. After a 15 year hiatus I returned to Seattle Pacific University (thanks for taking all my transfer credits SPU!)and finsihed up my degree as a history major graduating in 2004!
Workplace
I've been in non profit youth work for the past fourteen years -- am currently working on establishing an organization that facilitates the homestays of international high school students while they are here studying.
