Tony's Story
There's a saying that the more things change, the more they remain the same. In some ways, that's a pretty good description of how things have gone with me.
While I was at Woodlawn Senior and Loyola College, I started venturing into the world of computer software. I was a member of the Catonsville War Games club, but played mostly non-wargames (RPG's, sports games, etc.). Today, I'm a software engineer at JHU/APL, and my part time hobbies now include developing more family-oriented fare for a board game company noted mainly for its war games, GMT Games. (I developed Winds of Plunder, helped develop Conquest of Paradise, and play tested Galaxy.)
In between, I spent some time working at EMC Controls and CPRC, lived in Ireland for five months where I worked with Dik Evans (yes, the same Dik Evans who quit The Hype just before it became U2!), and did a fair bit of travel for work and on my own before settling back into my more typical stay-close-to-home role.
My wife Teresa & I met via E-mail in 1990. We eloped in...Expand for more
1993, and had an affirmation of vows (the wedding we'd originally planned) on our 1st anniversary date in 1994. We have no children, but we sometimes joke about having a perpetual two year old in our Quaker parrot.
Recently I've been going down the road of family rediscovery. In 2014, a friend sent me a photo from Luxembourg of the grave marker for a WWII Army officer named "Anthony C. Nardo" and asked if this was a relation. That sparked a search to find the connection based on a casual line dropped by an aunt in 1985, then for my father's lines from Sicily, then for the aunt herself (from a branch of the family that I had only had contact with in 1985 -- long story there), and then... well, let's just say things snowballed from there. I've established and re-established a number of ties since then, cleared up a couple family mysteries along the way, helped my wife with her own family research, and even had a few genealogical articles published.
