Life
My Pets
Groucho and Barbara are the closest things to children I will probably ever have -- good thing, too, given how often I have to yell at them! Groucho is a black domestic shorthair, and Barbara is a tortoiseshell. They're beautiful, funny -- and they drive me crazy.
My Job
I teach English at both Roosevelt University and Loyola University in Chicago. Having a job in which I'm paid to read books and talk about books and literature, even if I'm talking to kids who have NO earthly idea what I'm talking about, is bliss.
School
I think everyone remembers who my crush was, so it's best not to embarrass him any further here, don't you think?
The teachers who inspired me most were Miss Bird, Mr. Hewitt, and Mr. Tempia, among others (whose names I'm forgetting at the moment, despite their inspiration - I'll come back later and fill those in).

ll again? Hmm... High school could be pretty painful sometimes, but going to DHS after seven years in Virginia was like finding a big chocolate cake in the fridge after a week of eating brussel sprouts. When I tell my friends that I was openly gay in high school and never got beaten up or abused in any way because of it, and then I hear stories about what THEY went through simply from being suspected of being gay, I'd have to say that being at DHS was a gift on that score.
College
God, why would I WANT to revisit my college days here? Suffice it to say that I went to Western Michigan University, discovered you could actually get a degree in creative writing, then went on to LSU in Baton Rouge and discovered that such degrees are worthless. That was also the closest I've come to becoming an alcoholic in my life - there was simply nothing else to do there but drink!
