Torrie's Story

Life I was born the daughter of a poor immigrant fisherman in the coal mining village of Nanutuktuk...Oh, that was a different life... After high school I stayed around Sun Prairie and completed my lucrative obligation as a Nanny to two delightful children. I then moved on to bigger and better things in the mailroom of General Casualty Insurance. (Sorry Dad but that job SUCKED) Finally ditching GC and Sun Prairie altogether, I got a job at Wisconsin Public Broadcasting in the Educational programming and production Department doing whatever they wanted me to do and listening to cries for MORE Elmo than humanly necessary in a lifetime. Being a state "project" position, I was cast off under the Thompson administration to be lost in the growing pile of the unemployed. I moved forward to my next venture as a Feline Behavior Associate...yes I talked to people about "Fluffy's Psychological need to piss on the dog's head". I soon realized they were needing a "Cat Whisperer" and I was more of a "Cat Napper". I grew tired of dealing with egotistical Vets and "Crazy Cat Ladies", (ironically I realize now that I was nearly one of them), I went on to Easter Seals of Wisconsin and worked at becoming Assistant Promotions and Public Relations Director. Easter Seals was the most rewarding work I've ever done. I met some of the greatest people ever assisting people with disabilities, I l...Expand for more
earned so much from them. Thinking Non-profit wasn't going to ever get me out of my one bedroom apartment, I accepted a job at an Advertising Agency. Big Mistake! Advertising left me very empty inside, and very drunk most of the time! Next, I was back to the Wonderful World of Broadcasting and worked for the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for 6 years or so...they sucked the life out of me and left me for dead....but I'm not bitter! Today I'm the Office Manager in Hell and really, that's all you want to know about that! I met my husband to be, Bob, when I was 30 something, I think. We were married in 2002 and I was blessed with a great husband and a terrific stepson who is now 11 and lives with us in Stoughton, his name is Taylor. We had a son in 2003 named Kristopher....he is the light in my life and the best thing that could ever happen to me. My family truly ROCKS! And sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am now! All of that growing up was for this! And it was worth every second! I neglected to mention, that in my 20's I had a blast doing a lot of bad things with alot of fun people. Those stories will have to wait for my book to be published, tentative title: Stories Left Un-Told (or fondly, S.L.U.T). (Ha! Ha!) Okay, folks that's about it. Nothing too exciting...maybe I should've stuck with my poor daughter of a foreign miner story? Sorry to bore you.
