Tracey's Story
Life
Had my first child, a son, in December 2002. I married Craig Williams (not the one in our class but Jerry and Scott Williams' older brother that did not go to Chapel Hill). - Didn't meet him until I was out of school. We live in Whitehouse.
College
Attended TJC, Central Texas College, Kansas State University for Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, UT Austin to start graduate school, UT Tyler to complete Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology with certificates in Neuropsychology and Marriage & Family Counseling.
Workplace
Worked for five years in behavioral medicine. Assisted patients who had chronic pain, recovery from surgeries, adapting to disability, counseling families, neuropsychological testing, biofeedback, pain management strategies, relaxation techniques, and working with post-stroke and brain injury patients. mental health. Was the director of two MHMR clinics. Provided administrative functions (hiring/firing psychiatrists, nurses, counselors, support staff; preparing and managing budget; provision of mental health and counseling services with clients from depressed to schizophrenic diagnoses. Now Director of Counseling, Tutoring and Deaf Student Services at Tyler Junior College. Employ 150 tutors, 8 support staff, 2 secretaries, 30 part time interpreters and 3 full time interpreters. Provide counseling to college students and couples, workshops and presentations, employ and manage staff, manage budget, wrote a grant to teach tutors how to work with students who have learning disabilities. Travel to present on this to places such as Kansas City, Nashville, New York, Chicago and have planned travel to Boston. Have really enjoyed being able to work in such different settings.
