Tracy's Story
Life
After graduating from high school, I went to college for a year, dropped out, got married and had a child. Several years passed before I decided I wanted to do something more with my life, so in 1992 I decided to go back to school. After several years of what seemed like "forever", I graduated with a degree in education as well as a degree in kinesiotherapy (which is sort of similiar to physical therapy). I chose education as my initial career path, but soon left teaching for a DoD job. I am now back in school pursuing my MBA (while still working for the DoD). Someone once labeled me as a career student...and I guess there is some truth to that since, at last calculation, I've been in school 26 of 36 years. til last year when an injury caused the need for reconstructive elbow surgery. I guess it was time for me to quit playing at some point...and that's what finally did it. My son is now 15 and close to learner's permit age. I think that just aged me... He's a great kid w/ a great sense of humor. He still gives hugs and kisses before getting out of my car to go to school, which is sweet. Maybe he'll understand exactly how special that is when he has high school aged children of his own. He and I have a lot in common when it comes to music and writing -- poetry. He's a great writer for his age, and half the time I think his stuff is much better than mine.
