Tracy's Story
I am from Ellicott City, Maryland. I am ... well, it's complicated.
Most people into the high school scene likely do not remember me. The day I got my driver's license, I started working for my father, driving all over the metro Baltimore Washington area. I had a close friend who was in VoTech, and hung out mostly with the drama crew. Wish I had been more involved in that aspect of high school, good group of people.
Some may remember, I was in a bad car accident the year after graduation. Lots of operations and recovery. My schools include Mt. Hebron High School, College of Coastal Georgia (Chemistry, Biology, Education), Mercer University (Natural Science BBA Management) and UMUC M.Ed. Instructional Technology.
I currently work for Catholic Charities as an Instructional Technology Specialist. Working on my Special Ed Cert to hopefully get back down to Anne Arundel County for my son's senior year 2017 graduation date.
I worked in Ocean City the summer after high school (drug addicts and alcoholics galore....BAD experience!), was a PBX operator at the Columbia Innn (now the Hilton, whatever the hotel on the lake is?), a building manager at a North Charles Street historic office building, a pylon inspector at Aberdeen proving ground.
In 1986 moved to Georgia to renovate and sell three rental properties. After moving to Georgia, worked to finish my Bachelor's degree at Mercer University (which no one ever heard of in Maryland until the basketball team was winning this past year). During that time I worked various positions in accounting as well as in the seafood research lab at the University of Georgia Marine Extension. I was on a panel to determine innovative ways to freeze and store seafood...you know those vacuum packed bags that make the seafood fresher? I ate and spit out shrimp for 6 months through the development of that method of food preservation :)
Had a daughter in 1996 and a son in 1998 and became a certified teacher in 2006. I did make it to the 25th reunion, and brought my son as my date. Moved to Annapolis, Maryland in 2008 when my Mom passed away to live with my father. I worked for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the US Census in 2010, a math and science tutor, was a footman for Annapolis horse carriage tours, became a lifeguard to watch lap swimmers at 4:30 am at the age of 47, was a banquet server at the Preakness, a robotics instructor for TAG students a top appliance sales person for Best Buy Columbia, and a part tim...Expand for more
e employee at Office Depot Annapolis. Why you say? Gotta do what you gotta do to take care of two GREAT kids!
Looking for a bit cheaper housing this year, but will hang tight here in Annapolis until my son graduates in 2017 from Annapolis High School, and my daughter graduates from ???? in ??? She has an associates from DCAD in Fine Art but looking into the digital art are coding field.
After nearly dying in the car accident in 1982, I am a lover of life and a lover of people. I have too many interests to list here, but they include fine art, favorites Claude Monet and Water Lilies, Van Gogh, Biking, Swimming, Baseball, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football, Baltimore Orioles, Buck Showalter, Brian Roberts (wish he could have stayed with the O's to win one...my son is a killer second baseman and shortstop) Nick Markakis. I learned to hit a baseball to help my son learn to do it right when he was young, and he is lucky to have a group of great coaches who have taken over in that regard. Hitting baseballs at the batting cage is very therapeutic, and cheaper than therapy.
Former supervisor at Best Buy plays in classic rock band, friend's husband plays in a blues band, I like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, ZZ Topp, ACDC, Classic Rock in general, Louis Armstrong, BBKing, Brandon Heath, Mozart. I listen to just about anything, except for lyrics that are crude and objectify women. My current favorite song is "Word Crimes" by Weird Al Yankovic, but I have to watch humming it, where people would think I am humming blurred lines.... bleh.
Books I like include historical fiction, or non-fiction, C.S. Lewis, Season of Life, What Ever Happened to Baseball, The Last Boy. I like the underdog movies, don't care for the dumb a$$ Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell type movies...Like Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid, Radio, Blindside, Money Ball, Invincible, As Good as it Gets, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. TV shows she likes include MLB Network, Sports Center Income Property, other HGTV reno shows, Bar Rescue, Brain Games.
I have a lot favorite quotes "Life is not a spectator sport. If you're going to spend your whole life in the grandstand just watching what goes on, in my opinion you're wasting your life.
Jackie Robinson
There are some people, they don't know and you can't tell 'em.
Louis Armstrong
So where did all this random she likes stuff come from? Facebook stalking, big brother of the Internet land? Apologies if I did not remove all of the "SHE LIKES"
