Tracy's Story
Life
My partner, Eddie, and I were married in Vancouver back in October, 2003. We share a home in Birmingham (along with my 15 year-old mutt, Puck) and were lucky enough to spend two weeks in Ireland this past summer.
Over the years, I've taken some fantastic trips including a 10-week stay in Europe during the summer of 1982. During that summer, I spent 6 weeks in Amsterdam studying the neuropsychology of learning disabilities at the university medical school ... between research and such activities as dissecting human brains, we managed to have some fun experiencing all that Amsterdam has to offer.
My sister, Jill, lives in Gladstone (near Escanaba in the UP) with her husband and two kids. I get up there to visit as often as I can (but it really is a long haul!). In June,2007, I took my niece (Katie, 15) and nephew (Jason, 14) on a trip to Munising and the Pictured Rocks area. The highlight of the trip was a day-long kayak outing on Lake Superior.
College
After a brief stay at Albion College, I ended-up at Ea...Expand for more
stern (a much better choice for me .... Albion's enrollment was smaller than our high school and somehow just wasn't what I expected for a college experience).
Following graduation from EMU in April, 1978, I immediately moved to Charleston, Illinois (a small town in the middle of corn fields) to attend Eastern Illinois University. They offered me a graduate assistantship which was enough to lure me there ... and it turned out to be a great experience. I received my Master of Arts degree from EIU in May, 1979 after completing its accelerated school psychology program and moved on to Urbana, Illinois for a year-long internship.
Workplace
I've spent my entire career working as a school psychologist for the Lake Orion Community Schools, starting there in 1980. I never thought that I'd spend my whole career in one school district ... but it's obviously been a great match!
I'm also very active in my profession, serving as the Interest Group Development Coordinator for the National Association of School Psychologists.
