Tracy's Story
Wow - I can't believe we've been out of high school for 20 years now (May 2008)! In many ways, time has flown by.
After high school, I went to UNT for several years and co-op'ed at IBM. I'm embarassed to say that I never got my degree though. The draw of a regular paycheck was too much for me, I guess. I've had some pretty good jobs though considering. I worked for IBM for 4 years, for the Annuity Board of the Southern Baptist Convention for a short while, McKinsey for a short while and then Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) for almost 10 years. I was a Project Manager at Accenture and travelled globally. I enjoyed much of it at the time, but wouldn't do it again at this point in my life!
I met my husband, Michael, through a mutual friend in April 1998 but we didn't really start dating until December 1998. He also worked for Accenture (and still does) but we wouldn't have met through work since we worked in completely different organizations. He proposed to me in December 1999 at the top of the UT tower in Austin (huge Longhorn fan) and we got married in December 2000. We moved to San Ramon, California in August 2001 but missed our friends and family so much, so we came ...Expand for more
back in July 2002.
I left Accenture in October 2005 to start infertility procedures (i.e. IUI). We had been trying for about 2.5 years on our own and weren't having any luck. I got pregnant right away but miscarried early on. We got pregnant again in April 2006 - we found out on Easter and our baby was due on Christmas Day! Reed was born on December 10, 2006. He is such a blessing and a little miracle. I just adore him!
We decided to start trying for #2 in January 2008 and did a couple of IUI rounds again. The second one worked and we are expecting again. However, this time, it's TWINS! Wow... A bit overwhelmed right now! They are due November 18th but my OB won't let me go any further than 37 weeks (end of October). We are hoping that I can make it as far as possible.
I love being a mommy - more than any other job that I have ever had. Just seeing Reed's smile every day is worth every trial we went through to get him. I hope that I can be a good mommy to our new little ones as well!
UPDATE: July 2008 - Found out we're having boy/girl twins! Caroline Rose and Culp Connelly. I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and wondering how I'm going to make it to the end. I'm exhausted already!
