Tracy's Story

Life Where does one start with their 'Life Biography?' I was born, I lived and one day I may die (God and I are still working on that one). I've been blessed to have lived in several different places, met many different people and experienced things that many may never even dream of experiencing. But, enough of the glossing over. I've lived in New Orleans for the past year, which is a great city to live in if you can get past the mosquitoes, hurricanes and stifling humidity. It is a city rich in history, culture and of course, partying and drinking. The French Quarter, Marie Laveau, Antiques along St Charles and of course, Mardi Gras more than makes up for 3 previous mentioned items. I work for Cox Communications as a Telecommunications Engineer, which is a far sight from the lawyer I had always thought I was going to be. One can never know what the tides will bring as we move through the years of our life. I am in a magnificient relationship with someone whom I love and am loved by. We hope to begin construction on a house within the next year - just in time for my 30th birthday. I figure I should own a house by then. Maybe then, I'll think about children, but right now; there's too much in the Crescent City to enjoy and too much of my life I want to enjoy before completely settling down. I'm too young and the years pass so quickly and I've still got a long list of things I want to see and do before I get to that point. **Addendum** 12/12/03 Ok, so, I no longer literally live in New Orleans (even though I pay for everything as though I live there). I also no longer work for Cox Communications. No loss there. Instead, I find myself in this place called Maidenhead, which just happens to be about 25 miles west of London - as in England. I've been here since the end of Oct. Best time of the year really in my opinion - lovely weather. Actually reminds me a bit of Washingtonian winters. 'Nuff said. I work as a Consultant to a large Wireless Telecommunications Company in an attempt to connect the UK functionalities to their Italian operations. I certainly miss things American, but it isn't too bad living in Europe and being paid for it, as well. Please see my College Section on Brit words to keep in mind - in case you ever travel to the UK. **Update 03/21/08** Ok, so I am back in Louisiana. Been here since Oct 2005. I would've been here in Sept 05, but a little feisty storm named Katrina delayed that. Long story short, I was working contract in Plano, TX and I was supposed to be back in Louisiana by Labor Day and then all hell broke loose on Aug 29, 2005. I had to wait a couple of months. Lucky me, I finally bought that house I was talking about before - VERY lucky, as we had signed the papers just a mere three weeks before the storm. No damage - we were smart and bought the house on the 'good' side of Lake Pontchartrain. So, here I've been. I work (until I hit the powerball!), I go to school to finish that long-awaited masters, and I do whatever I do in my free time. I personally think classmates.com suck - I hate having to pay to see who signs the stupid guestbook. I prefer myspace for that - silly place, but nice to keep in touch with people without really keeping in touch. Apparently, I can't actually paste websites - how lame. Just type the main...Expand for more
link to My Space and then /notitia or you can search for my name, schools, etc I mirror the blog to my website - worldtraveller.us Classmates was ok with this link - but if Classmates censors - the link is Worldtraveller with a dot (.) and then us. If you are really lazy, you can type in the worldtraveller link and click on the my space link from it. School Well, The 10 year has already passed. I can already feel the 20 year sneaking up on me. I guess that's what happens as we age. The years come quicker and the past fades until we begin to wonder whatever happened to those 4 years we went to high school or 4 years we went to college (ok, some of us have gone way beyond the 4 year time frame). Maybe some of us wished we had taken longer than 4 years to complete college. I remember high school as good times with friends; all of us pretending to be adults, only to find out later on we weren't even close. There are many days which I wish I could capture that innocence once again, but instead; the pretending is over and the real thing is here and so, an adult - all grown-up; I must be. College I ask myself at least once a week - Why did I ever want to graduate? Why couldn't I have postponed my life and continued living in a college apartment, eating Ramen Noodles and wondering which bar or fraternity house to spend my Friday (and Saturday) night at? Oh, the cruel jokes that life can play. But then, I remember - I didn't care having 3 other room mates, hated Ramen Noodles and would prefer to never experience another hang-over in my life; especially some of the ones I experienced in my college years. I'm glad I graduated from Penn State - not only do I have a fine education (with a degree I do not use), but I get 'WOW!, you went to Penn State - you think Joe Paterno's going to retire this year? I think Joe Paterno will retire when I do - which by my calculations of my sorry 401K and the depletion of the Social Security Administration should be sometime in the year 2053. I always thought 79 would be a good age to retire, which coincidentally is the average life expectancy for caucasian women in the United States. **Addendum** So, if you've read my Life Biography, you know I directed you to this section for the Brit word lesson: -You NEVER wear only 'pants' to work, but trousers. Pants would indicate you run around in your knickers or underwear. -You don't ask for food 'To Go,' but 'Take Away.' -A 'Jacket' is a baked potato. -The 'Loo' is the restroom. -Brits don't own 'Cell Phones,' but 'Mobiles.' With emphasis on the -iles part. -'Chips' are French Fries. -'Crisps' are potato chips. -'Biscuits' are cookies. -A 'Boot' is the 'Trunk' of your car -Brits don't take 'Vacations,' but go on 'Holiday.' -And my personal 'favourite', an 'Eraser' is called a 'Rubber.' Workplace Why would someone actually want to write a 'Work Biography?' How's this: I work, I get paid, I spend all my money on taxes and things I don't really need. No wonder, I'm not going to be able to retire until 2053. **Addendum** Ok, so, now that you might have read where I live now, I must point out that not only am I required to pay US taxes, but British taxes, as well. I may have to amend what year I retire in. Just hope I make the mark for average life expectancy for caucasian women...
