Troy's Story

Who I was While in high school I was there to have fun. I never took anything seriously and my whole existence in high school was to just get by. My favorite teacher Mr. Fixx once asked the class if anyone knew the eight parts of speech. I raised my hand and named them off from memory and he commented "Why aren't you an A student?" I responded "Because I don't want to be." Mr. Fixx shook his head and I could tell he was disappointed in my answer. From then on I put my full effort into his class. I loved him as a teacher and with his passing Escanaba Public High has lost a leader that left lasting memories for all students. He will never be forgotten and with that never will Hulk Hogan or the Vector W2. Rest in Peace Mr. Fixx you will always be my hero. My Bio since After high school, I enlisted in the US Army as a light wheeled vehicle mechanic. I attended basic training and advanced individual training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. My first permanent duty station was Germany and I lived in Dexheim Germany for almost three years. It was an interesting time in Germany. I witnessed the fall of the Berlin wall and a change in tempo of all of Europe with the end of the Cold War. In 1991 I was deployed to Turkey for the Persian Gulf War. It was strange in Turkey. The people are poor and the government has gold statues at every building. I'll never forget how backwards Turkey is. At the end of Desert Storm, my unit was without equipment (as the Turkish government kept all of our vehicles), and our unit was brought to Ft. Lewis, Washington. I fell in love with Tacoma and Seattle! After the rain it is so beautiful in all of Washington State. On my long weekends I would travel to one of my Army buddies parents home in Crescent City, California. Crescent City is positioned on the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by mountains, and on the edge of the redwood forests. I...Expand for more
've never seen such an attractive and interesting place in all of my travels and I probably never will find anywhere that tops it. In 1992 I was honorably discharged from the Army. I moved back to Escanaba and enlisted in the Michigan National Guard while I attended college at Bay. In 1995 I reenlisted back into active US Army and was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. I once again went to Germany in 1999. I lived there for a short period and was discharged from the Army May 2000. Since my discharge, I've applied my skills as a heavy equipment mechanic, which I picked up in service, and worked in that field until 2007 when I found my true calling. I have taken my mechanical aptitude and honed them with writing to become a mechanical technical writer. I wrote the troubleshooting tasks for the US Army's Tactical Fire Fighting Truck and the Hemmt Based Water Tender which are built by Pierce Manufacturing. I moved to Buffalo, NY Feb 2008 and have been writing the technical manuals for biogas and process controls equipment for Glauber Equipment Corporation. If there is one thing that is important to me it is to have fun daily. My job is high demand but I make it fun and enjoyable. My Thrill I, through the year, have never given up on my enjoyment of amusement parks. These days I can be found at Cedar Point and Six Flags on most weekends. There is no feeling like a roller coaster. The taller, the faster, the better. My waredrobe consists of clothing that I find at parks throughout the US. If you ever get the chance to get to Cedar Point in Sanduskey, Ohio chances are you'll meet an elderly man in his late 60's at Millenium Force wearing a yellow tee shirt with the lettering "Single Rider Bob." I can only wish that my health will be as good as his when I am his age and I too will be able to ride Millenium Force until they place me into my six foot resting place.
