Tyler's Story
I graduated from TJHS in 1972.
I am a consulting forester in Wytheville, VA where I have lived since 198. I met my wife Mary at Va Tech and we have been married for 32 years (since'78) and have five children and two grand-children. Our three oldest children have all married in the last three years.
Our oldest son Joshua is a graduate of VA Tech and is a pastor in a small WV town. Our oldest daughter Hannah has a nursing degree and two daughters (6 weeks and 18 months) and lives just three miles from where we have been building a new home (near Catawba, VA) for over four years. We are almost there! Our second son, Daniel; lives with his wife in Christiansburg, VA and is currently a successful insurance salesman but will ll soon join the Navy and hopes to become a Navy Seal. He would like to serve 6 years and then go to law school. Our daughter Abby just finished her first year at UT Knoxville and is in the Army ROTC. ...Expand for more
Abby wants to fly helicopters and then pursue a law degree or work for the FBI. Our youngest son Josiah is finishing his last year of homeschooling, has finished a year of Community College and just spent two and half months in LA auditioning during TV pilot season. He wants to act and plans to pursue a degree in counseling as well.
Mary has home schooled all five our children from start to finish. She was a family and marriage counselor before she started having babies. We will soon be "empty-nesters" and are looking forward to moving into our new home and spending time with our present and expected future grandchildren.
I help private landowners manage and market their timber and also sell Real Estate, farms, timberland and recreational/retirement land.
We love our children, our church and reading. I like to follow VA Tech sports, hunt and fish (but seldom get to) and to work on our farm and my forestry business.
