Barb's Story
Life
Hello! My name is Barb Ursini. As a shy teen, I lived out on Harstene Island. I became pregnant at 19 years of age. My baby's father is Tim Hammond who was also from Harstene Island. Not long after the birth of our daughter, we went our separate ways. Later, her father was involved in a near fatal motor cycle accident. Tim sustained severe head trauma and remains developmentally delayed to this day. I think he would be very proud of who his daughter has become. God blessed us with a wonderful child. I have never married, although I have done a lot of dating through the years and had live-in relationships. After 10 years of staying single, I am currently involved with a significant other and very happy. My daughter, Tiffany, graduated with her AA degree in June 2004. She briefly attended Evergreen State College and had a small break from school, but now wishes to finish her bachelor's degree in the near future. I have been attending college which seems like forever with the hopes of attaining my AA degree--it is the math that is getting in the way--my least favorite subject. Ha ha. I hope to also go on to Evergreen State College to get a Bachelor's degree. I currently work in human resources at the Department of Personnel i...Expand for more
n Olympia, Washington. The first half of my career I worked in the medical field. Life has been a humbling experience. I have 4 cats that are my babies: Fluffy is a 10 year old Himalyan persian; Pookie is a 9 year old silver shaded persian; Binky is a 8 year old tuxedo stray we adopted with high anxiety problems but we love him; our newest addition is a rescued orange and white tabby named Krykee. All our kitties are indoor only and have some very unique and entertaining personalities. The older I get, the more I love animals and less love people! Ha ha. I'm such a loner! Anyway, wishing health and happiness to all!
(2/28/2008) Update: My daughter is engaged to a wonderful man and will be getting married in the Catholic church on June 28, 2008. Yippeee!! Grandbabies in the future instead of more kitties!!! I, on the other hand, have a significant other and we have been together for over a year and a half and still going strong. We have two children: Sparky the dalmatian and "Piggy" the brown tabby. Life is still challenging and has its ups and downs but I continue to develop my Christian faith and try to stay grounded and humble.
I'd love to hear from my old friends!! Feel free to write. -- Many blessings, Barb Ursini
