Valerie's Story
Life
I live in Lexington, GA. It's a small town, east of Athens. There is only one stoplight in our county... and it's not in our town. My back yard is a hill that slopes gently down through oaks, pecans, and maples to a little creek that my kids and dogs love to splash in.
We joined a church about a year after we moved out here. After months of looking for a "Not Baptist" church in Oglethorpe Co we realized that there weren't any non-Baptist churches with more than 5 members and most of them only met twice a month. Rather than drive half an hour or more to attend church in Athens, we decided to at least visit one of the local Baptist churches. We were pleasantly surprised (definitely NOT the fire & brimstone wailing I remember from my Granny's church). We stayed & I now sing in the choir & play piano for the church. I was baptized just after Mother's day this year.

d my highschool sweetheart, Kevin, fifteen years ago and we are looking forward to another fifty or so (God willing). We have two young'uns, Fiona (5) and Colin (1), who were lucky enough to look like their Daddy.
Fiona attended Oglethorpe County Primary School for all of 5 weeks before we decided to home school her. She has been getting more done in one or two hours of school work each day than she did in eight hours of public school, plus she's not so tired and cranky in the evenings. We're currenly reading "The Tale of Despereaux" by Kate DiCamillo. We highly recommend it.
I'm a mostly stay-at-home mom... I work in direct sales (also known as "home parties" selling Surprise Parties lingerie, lotions & potions. I never imagined I would work in sales, but it does allow me to schedule my hours around my family's needs. And going to parties for a living is rather fun :-)
