Valerie's Story
Shockingly discovered that I’ve lived most of my life in the South. My daughters (both born in Atlanta, GA) joke that they’re “bilingual “ - they speak Southern and Yankee (RI) . You haven’t lived till you’re in a Hickory House and hear your
4 year old ask the waitress for coffee milk😜. Brought them up right, folks.
I’m a “glass is refillable “ instead of a glass half full or empty sort. Moving around has taught me how to make a home anywhere and in any circumstance. In even the most challenging circumstances one always learns something valuable.
My college experiences at both URI and McMaster University are some of the best times in my life. Those skills learned from fantastic profs have been put to use in life/work/home. Most of my work’s utilized teaching, so that diverging from the school path merely suggested (like Waze 😆) alternative routes.
Living in Canada 🇨🇦 was fantastic; as a foreign student I met people from all around the world. Got to ...Expand for more
teach American History to Canadian college students. They’re experts! Won a first prize at the History Department Halloween Party; my costume was a RI Red chicken😂.
Living in Atlanta obliterated many stereotypes I had about the South and Southerners. Learned to understand a lot, and loved how as my perceptions improved, so did my experiences.
Both my daughters, Laura (oldest) and Margo (youngest) were named after movies. I love them both more than any words can say. We have a blast together. We debate, play games, watch movies, talk about books, listen to music & share pictures of our fur babies.
Love a wide variety of books, movies, tv shows and music. Love sports ( not the Yankees, Cowboys or Crimson Tide 🤨)
Work keeps me very busy but I volunteer with Habitat, animal shelters, and teach English (via a church program) to speakers of other languages. This is my
favorite teaching job ever
It’s wonderful renewing contact with y’all. Much love everyone.
