Van's Story

go to f a c e b o o k and search for me. You don't have to pay to play there. I know most of you already have a F A C E B O O K Life Well after graduation we lost our house and my Dad left. I stayed with my Mom for about a year, then went out on my own. I lived out of my car for about 6 months. I worked many odd jobs at that time. at 20 I entered the Army and spent 2 years. I was trained as a Combat medic and assigned to 2nd MASH 34th MED Batallion, FT Benning GA. After my discharge from the Armed Services, I returned to Denver/Lakewood, where I got into Drugs really bad. by 1988 I was locked up. I spent from 1988 to 1991 in the system. Upon my release I moved to Sterling Colorado, My mom had moved to Flemming a town near there and my Grandmother lived in Sterling. I began taking Business admin at NJC and working in the Computer Labs on a work grant. In 1992 I met my wife. I had gone down to the bar on Friday night to meet up with friends as was the norm and sat down at the table by her. We talked and danced all night. I called her the next day and met her again that night. We married 2 months later (we are still married our 17th anniversary is july 1). at the end of 1992 I applied for and obtained a job working for Sykes enterprises doing Computer technical support. In 1995 for personal reasons we moved to Red Oak Iowa where we now live. I currently am working for Red Oak Die casting, and also run a Computer repair and consulting business. Small towns are just not busy enough to just do computer repair. My biggest crush was Debbie Wilson at O'Connell Jr High. I never told her. Took her to my Sophomore Homecoming dance at Lutheran High. First last and only time I ever kissed her. She moved away about a year after that, never have seen her again. Debbie if you ever come around please please drop a line. I miss you so very much, you were my best friend in Jr. High, I never would have made it without...Expand for more
you. Je t'aime. College After I finally got my life straightened out I went to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling Colorado. I took Business administration classes but I never graduated, I never took all the core requirement classes I needed I just took the Computer classes and accounting and psychology and business. I didn't take the 3 required English, or the 2 required science, or the 2 required History/Social studies. I did take one English Comp class but I did poorly because I never liked English Comp. I got A's in all my other classes except the English I got a D. but oh well at least I passed it. I had started to take English Lit but I had gotten married and was working and it just got to be too much strain so I dropped my class I was only taking the one. I never went back not that it matters as I did get the jobs I was getting the education for. I have the business knowledge just not the paper to prove it. Workplace Currently I am Laid off from Red Oak Die casting, which is closing down. and I also run my own business. I work the night job because business in small towns is so slow that I cannot afford medical insurance and pay all the other stuff off just my business income. My business is Paradise Computer Consultants. I help people/Businesses with finding the right systems/Software to do what they are wanting to do. I also install networks, build web pages, set up servers, and build custom systems. I have 17 years experience on computers now. I work with both PC and Macintosh, I actually prefer Mac myself but the norm is PC. I have a internal network of 9 computers 4 of them consistently on internet, and 3 of them only used occasionally if one of the others is down for some reason (ie. Virus) Up to speed: Well I am divorced from the wife I had and am now in a new relationship. We are expecting a baby in Feb of 2012. This will be my first confirmed biological child. We are so excited.
