Velina's Story

Currently living in Tampa, FL after 17 years in upstate NY. Married to same person for 30plus years, with 2 boys - ages 31 & 27 - 1 daughter-in-law and 1 grandson, # 2 due Dec 2009. We have lived in CA twice, OR, CT twice, NY twice, and now FL. And for those who may wonder - NO - we are not in the witness protection program. My husband - now retired - used to sell chemicals to the paper, oil and glass industries, which required us to move every so often. I am currently employed by MetLife, as a Project Manager - responsible for financial system implementations and I manage the user acceptance testing team. Basically I get to tell people what to do to make the PeopleSoft applications work, and then walk away. Sounds simple - but it never seems to work out that way. To paraphrase Al Pacino's line from GF III - "just when I thought I was out, they suck me back in." But in this economy - that is a good thin...Expand for more
g. In NY I loved working in my yard (over 1/2 acre) huge by CA standards - but FL has snakes - I mean big, poisonous snakes - so that ended. Have friends that own a nice boat - and when they ask - we are there!! I have been playing golf for 20+ years, and and just joined a women's golf club in Tampa I found on Meetup.com. Had a great time at the 1st outing - especially the 19th hole. For non-golfers that is the clubhouse bar! I do a lot of volunteer work - giving back is important. Right now I am training for the Tampa 3Day Breast Cancer event in Oct. during which I will be walking 60 miles in 3 days with 8 others members of my team. For anyone who remembers me from Drill Team - this shouldn't be a surprise - I still do lots of walking. Only thing missing is Ms Owens, Ms Schoenfield and the band - but Ipod works almost as well. So in looking at it all - I can't complain - life has been and still is good!!!
