Vernon's Story
Life
I am currently trying to get an "Information" Board installed
out on Coquille Point in Bandon, Oregon. Hopefully the board
will have photo's of "one" of the "old wooden sailing vessels"
that my Great-Grandfather STEIN DANIELSON "built" in the late
1800's/early 1900's. (He built "13" 2 mast & 3 mast sailing
vessels) during that time period.
One of the ships, the "Onward" went onto the "rocks" on Feb 25
of 1905 and an "Iron Ring" was placed into a rock there, to
secure the ship from being demolished by the "rough" Seas. The
Crew "...Expand for more
walked" ashore at a minus-tide after attempts to rescue
them was turned down. This "IRON RING" is still there, which
will be 100 years on the 25th of Feb in 2005.
Military
I had the pleasure to learn as well as travel all over Europe, France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, England, and
a few other counties as well! I Enjoyed the WORLD'S FAIR in
Belguim in 1958 while stationed in Germany! I loved the
ability to travel and meet new people and enjoy their type
of culture! Wouldn't have missed it for anything! It was
a GREAT experience!
